Alaska Garden & Pet Supply Jobs and Careers

Alaska Mill & Feed was started in 1950 by Don Donatello, who had come to Alaska with the military during World War II. Mr. Donatello stayed in Alaska after the War and started a small family business from his home making bleach. He acquired land and a rendering plant was built in 1958. A short while later a feed mill was constructed in 1964. As the business grew, other projects were completed. A farm and garden retail operation and a fertilizer blending plant were built in the 70’s. Alaska Mill & Feed currently operates a garden and pet wholesale distribution business under the name Alaska Garden & Pet Supply Inc., manufacturing facilities for animal feed, fertilizer, ice melt and wild bird seed, and a retail store. The Company’s strong emphasis on customer service, quality products (many of which are made in Alaska), and competitive prices have helped cultivate the family-owned business from a very small beginning to a large, local company that employs over seventy people. Leaving behind a family legacy and a part of local heritage, the Donatello Family has converted the company to an ESOP, or Employee Stock Ownership Plan. As of December 29, 2016, the company is proud to announce Alaska Mill & Feed is now an Employee Owned Company. Benefits of working at THE MILL: EMPLOYEE OWNERSHIP: Mill Team Members who work at least 1000 hours over a 50 week period will automatically qualify to become company owners through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
