About this Job:Part of a highly
motivated research team at the Vero Beach Research Center, this role serves to
design, initiate, and conduct quality greenhouse, lab, growth chamber, and
field trials with a main focus of promoting new active ingredients or
supporting current products to support the NA WC program. This role will
provide technical support for registered products in support of Sales and
Marketing efforts and also support the Global Herbicide Research Team through open
communication and collaboration. Successful candidates must lead projects as
field project coordinator (FPC), and communicate results to support both
project development and sales.

Essential Duties &

  • Conduct
    and coordinate high quality trials, contributing to the biological profiling
    and label development of herbicides, GMO traits, and adjacent technology
  • Contribute
    to or lead project planning and defining experimental objectives; ensuring
    trial implementation; generating or acquiring data and information
  • Summarize
    trial data and provide recommendations, identify development opportunities for
    product label expansion or further research
  • Work
    with team members, Technical Product Leads and other stakeholders on trial
    design and implementation
  • Provide
    technical support and training; coordinate demonstration trials for
    training/education for internal and external persons, participate in various
    site tours for internal and external groups
  • Provide
    technical data and information from lab, greenhouse, and field trials in
    support of special local, state, regional, and national labeling actions
  • Travel
    requirements to support R&D
    activities 10-15%


Education &

  • Ph.D. degree, or M.S. degree with commensurate
    experience a minimum of 5 years in weed science
  • Position requires substantial crop protection
    greenhouse and lab research experience, with a preferred focus in weed
    resistance management and/or auxin herbicide off-target movement
  • Applied field research experience is also preferred
Additional Knowledge,
Skills, Traits & Abilities:

  • Experience conducting
    weed control trials to evaluate herbicides with respect to efficacy, crop
    tolerance, soil behaviour, row crop agronomy particularly cereals, and other related
    experimental techniques. Weed resistance and molecular assay work is critical
    to the success of this position
  • Experience with auxin herbicides and herbicide
    environmental fate is important to this role
  • Skilled at interacting and communicating with internal and external
    customers and peers
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and presentation skills,
    flexibility in shifting among projects
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Project and people leadership experience
  • Knowledge of statistical analyses
