Fairbury’s production manager directs site operations to safely, cost effectively deliver business objectives. This position implements policies and practices to exceed company expectations through employee involvement and continuous improvement. The position organizes work activities to ensure formulation, packaging, and shipping operations sustain appropriate inventory levels, ensuring customer fulfillment. While reporting to Fairbury’s plant manager, this position establishes strong working partnerships with Loveland Products Supply Chain planning personnel. Key Tasks:
Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by implementing practices that exceed requirements of company policies or regulations. Promote a continuously improving safety culture focusing on analyzing hazards and managing risks; managing change; training and performance; incident investigations and corrective actions. Ensure site activities fully meet all Federal, State and local environmental regulations including, but not limited to: Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA/SARA Hazardous Chemicals reporting, RCRA Wastes.Recruit, develop and retain sufficient personnel to ensure timely, efficient work performance and cost controls.Promote a high level of employee awareness through training and development to ensure all levels within the organization contribute appropriately to continuous improvementProvide Key Performance Indicators reflecting material inventories, production progress and other operational activities that affect schedules and customer delivery.Manage work activities incorporating capacity planning, scheduling, and inventory controls within agreed budgets.Actively participate in site planning and budgeting processes. Collaborate with business partners, R&D, engineering, maintenance, and quality to identify cost reduction opportunities and improve site flow and efficiency.Develop and effect strategies to meet site business growth and sourcing needs.
The incumbent will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering and five years chemical manufacturing experience with direct responsibility for manufacturing operations.Candidate will have compliant working experience in OSHA Process Safety Management or EPA Risk Management regulated facilities.Individual must have demonstrated managerial skill and experience directing activities of other technical and non-technical personnel.Experience working in six sigma, lean, total quality or other similar manufacturing environments preferred.Financial skills, including, cost modeling and analysis – a plus.
Located in Fairbury, NE, this plant has undergone over $18m of upgrades and expansions in the last 5 years. Employees take pride in the facility and understand the need to maintain working conditions and working order, balancing the need for production and increasing capacity while maintaining a strong safety and environmental stewardship culture. The facility has a rail spur for unloading raw materials and shipping finished products. In addition to multiple loading docks, the facility has regional bulk storage capacity exceeding 3m gallons.
This site produces, packages and distributes liquid fertilizers and micro-nutrient products. There are integrated manufacturing, packaging, maintenance and warehousing functional departments. In addition to supporting site production, Fairbury’s QC laboratory operates as corporate satellite R&D with requisite analytical equipment for nutritional product development and commercialization. Fairbury also has management responsibility for an off-site supply chain warehouse located within the city.
