McCain Foods is accepting applications for a Production Manager position at the Burley, Idaho plant. Ensures established standards for safety, quality, and costs of production are maintained and results are delivered against specific improvement goals by effectively planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the operations of the plant. Develops and manages processes and systems to meet current and future business needs. Recruits, motivates, and develops plant personnel.
Accountabilities:
Direct plant operations to manage and coordinate the manufacturing of products in a way that ensures products are produced safely, efficiently and with the highest quality.
Work closely with production planning to effectively coordinate and control inventory levels of finished goods.
Manage plant operations to meet or exceed direct cost standards for labor and materials controlled and within the scope of the business requirements.
Ensure compliance with all Good Manufacturing Practices to keep the plant’s quality assurance programs successful and to ensure all finished products meet all specifications and regulatory compliance.
Support the safety teams to ensure the plant’s employee safety programs provide a safe working environment and regulatory compliance.
Perform annual goal setting with plant functions around safety, quality, cost, and service and employee development.
Work closely with Senior Production Manager and Engineering Manager to assist in the identification of long-range capital requirements necessary to drive improvements and maintain plant infrastructure.
Continually improve the overall effectiveness of the production department through improvements to production and administrative costs, product quality, plant sanitation, plant safety and employee morale
Communicate/visit the other plants and meets with the Production Managers to focus on best practices.
Maintain a favorable Labor Relations climate by creating positive working relationships and to involve others in working collectively toward achievement of department and plant goals.
Through coaching, training, communicating, problem solving, leadership and recognition develop a focus for others in creating and maintaining a continuous improvement environment that includes proper interpretation and application of company policies as well as legal and regulatory compliance.
Mentor the Supervisors so they become effective leaders by maintaining a management development process and reinforce by motivating, encouraging and training.
Qualifications:
Requires a minimum of three years’ experience in managerial position in food processing, including frozen food; experience in managing manufacturing operations with good understanding of the principles of accounting; a BA or BS degree or the equivalent practical experience in food technology; a complete knowledge of all phases of production line functions on all products. (i.e. breadings, batter applicators, fryers, freezing operations.)
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and train others.
Keep up with a fast growing need for more production, which is demanding more automation and modernization, and to train and develop a staff that will effectively deal with the growing and rapidly changing facility.
Basic knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and represent the production department in a professional and positive manner.
Strong ability to maintain confidentiality.
For union facilities only: Experience in labor relations, including grievance procedures.
Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of budgeting and accounting. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and Proportions to practical situations.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondences, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the board of directors.
Assist in the development of the operations portion of the plant budget.
Support the Senior Production Manager in continuing efforts to develop and implement a human resource management plan that addresses manpower planning and training at all levels.
Communicate with the production scheduler and purchasing department to review the scheduled plant production and set priorities.
Develop and effectively use reporting systems to inform operating and managerial personnel of the factory performance on a timely basis.

Compensation Package: $97,500 - $130,000 USD annually + bonus eligibility
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
