As a Senior Developer (Backend), you will be working with colleagues on the Order Management System team and report to the Senior Manager for Software Development. You will have exposure to every aspect of the software development cycle, and you will be encouraged to express your opinions and challenge assumptions. This is a rare opportunity to build new technology that will operate at a massive scale and impact the lives of millions of Canadians. For submitting the orders, to handling the fulfillment, this role handles end to end journey of placing the orders for all Loblaw Digital e-commerce businesses.

 

What you ll do

  • Curate your space as an individual contributor, while also maintaining technical relationships with your peers.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the software which delivers exceptional performances across board.
  • Construct design documents and documentation to aid in maintenance and code re-use.
  • Collaborate with cross-platform teams for internal and external integrations.
  • Participate in scaling and operational activities of the service
  • Provide support in resolving critical issues and participating in post-production activities.
  • Coach and mentor junior developers
  • Translate project goals and product roadmaps into organized technical tasks
  • Provide technical guidance and support in resolving critical issues.

 

Does this sound like you?

  • You are a pro backend developer, and are eager to work in a fast-paced environment
  • You should have experience with some of the following:
  • Java or Kotlin
  • Database design and performance tuning
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Istio
  • Logging, monitoring and alerting
  • CI/CD (Gitlab, Jenkins, Team City)
  • We are hoping to find someone with as many of the following as possible:
  • Strong experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs
  • Experience designing and building distributed systems
  • Knowledge of computer networks and security
  • Some site reliability engineering experience
  • Some understanding of cloud architecture in GCP
  • You care about owning your piece of work, and proactively work on improving it.
  • You are a team collaborator and express your technical opinions to your seniors.
  • You have worked on large applications in a team environment
  • You have an experience with code refactoring and are comfortable with performing changes in the code.
  • You are a good communicator. You can present complicated solutions to non-technical audience in a simple and logical way
  • You make decisions based on data. You are versed with tools to measure every aspect of the application.
