Lallemand Animal Nutrition (LAN) is a division of Lallemand Inc. dedicated to the development, production, and marketing of profitable, natural and differentiated solutions for animal nutrition and health. The company conducts its research and development through a combination of internal resources and external collaborations. The R&D department has the mission to generate scientific references on the products lines modes of action, efficacy and to develop new microbial based solutions.



Main functions 

Lallemand Animal Nutrition is committed to optimizing animal performance and well-being with specific natural microbial product and service solutions. To support our mission, the Field Support Specialist will represent LAN North America livestock market providing value added sales support to existing clients and potential customers. Working in conjunction with the local Territory Business Manager, key responsibilities of a successful candidate are to promote the Lallemand Forward value added services and support i.e. Explorer, to help demonstrate the value of LAN probiotics, inoculants, yeast derivatives and technical support services. The position reports to the Regional Sales Manager.


Responsibilities associated with this position also include, but is not limited to:

  • Lead contact for field support to LAN customers and prospects in assigned territory, in conjunction with Territory Business Manager (TBM).
  • Support TBM in sales growth by providing on-farm technical support with existing customers and prospects, working closely with TBM and key nutritionists to identify new prospect customers. 
  • Complete on-farm Explorer reports to provide producers and consultants with key performance indicators to help identify areas of success, find opportunities for improvement and develop plan forward.
  • Manage fast-paced work environment and effectively communicate Explorer information back to TBM in timely manner
  • Confident and engaging presentation abilities in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Must be able be effective in communicating to individuals at the farm-level as well as with nutritionists.
  • Actively participate in identifying new market opportunities within LAN’s core competencies.
  • With the discretion of the TBM , support the territory by attending conferences, workshops and trade shows to build awareness of Lallemand customer support services
  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with industry leaders and university faculty to increase visibility of Explorer program  


Required qualifications

Technical skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in animal science, nutrition, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledgeable in ruminant nutrition and silage management.
  • Self-starter and the ability to work without daily supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential.
  • Comfortable and confident working in commercial dairy and/or feedlot operation setting.
  • Ability to learn iPad-based data entry programs and complete on-farm audits using iPad-based programs.
  • Fluent written and verbal communications in English is required. Spanish is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of dairy or feedlot management software i.e. Dairy Comp 305, PC Dart, DHI Plus and feed management software i.e. E-Z Feed, Feed Supervisor, TMR tracker & FeedWatch.
  • Understand and effectively communicate a feed or forage lab report


General criteria

  • Willingness to learn and perform various duties depending on the company's needs;
  • Essential: overnight travel is required, approximately 40-60%.
