SUMMARY

To work in
any packaging area and perform any job task required for maintaining the smooth
operation of the packaging lines. This position is responsible for keeping food
surfaces and processing equipment and assigned work area in a food quality
sanitary condition.



The
Packaging Sanitation is a member of the packaging team which consists of Frozen
Inspectors, Cold Room Laborers, Palletizers, Palletizing Attendants, Production
Lift Truck Operators, Packaging Operators, Packaging Area Coordinators and
Packaging Mechanics. The individual in this position is accountable to their
assigned Packaging Supervisor and Shift Manager.



RESPONSIBILITIES


Must
be able to complete training on the safe operation of the power pallet jack and
successfully pass and maintain the certification test requirements. This
training and certification is a requirement in accordance with both WAC 296-307-52003
and WAC 296-307-52029.


Bailing
various packaging material.


Building
and breaking down totes.


Cleaning
food contact surfaces, floors, framework and the environment of the assigned
work area.


Frozen
Inspector duties.


Case
loading.


Ensures no injuries to self or
others by following safe work practices and procedures (including Standard
Operating Procedures), and policies.


Ensures that chemical usage is
recorded on the Chemical Log.


Transports chemicals by hand cart to
and from the chemical room in a safe and efficient manner.


Ensures that cleaning duties are
completed on a regular basis.


Ensures periodic testing and
documentation of foaming and sanitizing solution in central foaming tank.


Ensures the ability to assist with
training in order to ensure the proper training of sanitation.


Ensures the completion and
maintenance of OSHA fork lift truck certificates.


Ensures attendance and participation
in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired
skills and knowledge.


Ensures self-compliance with company
policies.


Ensures that the interface with team
members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management
style conducive with operational goals.


Ensures
that chemicals are handled and used safely and efficiently.


Ensures
that all task checklist items are completed and documented properly.


Performs
all tote handling duties.


Performs
all functions of the stripping duties as needed.


Performs
all rework of product duties.


Performs
all functions of assigned hand pack duties


Ensures
that all finished product is inspected and packed according to Company
procedures and standards.


Ensures
that cleanup duties are performed in a food safe manner which meets Company
standards.


Performs
all functions of the Frozen Inspector.


Ensures
ability to fill case erectors on shift.


Ensures
knowledge of equipment and is able to turn equipment on and off by employing
equipment lockout/tagout procedures as needed.


Ensures
that attendance and participation in training activities are appropriate for
the position, and the acquired skills and knowledge are applied.


Ensures
there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices,
procedures (including Standard Operating Procedures), and policies.


Ensures
self-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and the
Union Labor Agreement.


Ensures
that the interaction with team members and other support groups is conducted in
a participative management style conducive with operational goals.


Conducts
oneself in a professional manner by ensuring confidentiality regarding
sensitive issues and ensuring that appearance meets the standards necessary to
perform the job function while representing the company.


Ensures
that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, are handled
in a manner necessary to meet Operational and Divisional standards.


Ensures
that areas are cleaned and stocked with the proper supplies in a safe, timely
and skillful manner in order to meet operational standards. The primary areas
include the cold room, lab fryer area, Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4, and the
dry supply area.



Additional Key Activities: Conducts
oneself in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the
standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the company.



REQUIREMENTS


6+ months related experience.


Must have an acceptable safety
record.


Must have an acceptable attendance
record.


Must be able to work independently,
with minimal supervision.


Must be able to work day and night
shift (6am - 6pm / 6pm - 6am)


Must
be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs and ladders.


Must
be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.


Must
be able to work in extreme environments: hot or cold temperatures and wet and
slick floors.


Must
be able to work with and around hazardous chemicals wearing appropriate PPE,
includes but no limited to, full wetsuit, boots, chemical gloves and face
shield or goggles.


Must
be able to read, understand, and communicate in a manner to successfully
perform the job duties.


Must
be able to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication
and counting).


Must
be able to tell time.


Must
be able to distinguish colors.


Must
have manual dexterity in both hands.


Must
be able to lift up to 50 pounds in a safe and proper manner.


Must
be able to use up to 50 pounds of push/pull force needed to push/pull barrels
weighing up to 450 lbs using a rolling device
