Guelph, Ontario – AgCareers.com and the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) are connecting employers and job seekers in the agriculture & food industry through a series of free virtual career events and webinars.  Employers are seeking qualified candidates for planting, harvesting, processing, marketing, researching, and selling Ontario’s healthy, high-quality food, beverage and agri-products.

 

The investment of the Ontario government to help address labour shortages in the agri-food industry, AgCareers.com and OFA have partnered on delivery of Feeding Your Future: Connecting Ontario’s Agri-Food Workforce. This project will support employers and job seekers to connect through a series of virtual career events and webinars on timely, career focused topics.

 

“We are excited to partner with OFA to connect job seekers and employers in the agri-food industry with important resources to address the labour shortage in Ontario.” says Kathryn Doan, Director, AgCareers.com & CareersinFood.com. “The industry participation and involvement in these events has shown us this is filling a gap and a need in our sector, we are happy to be able to connect job seekers that are looking for work with the employers that are wanting to hire them.”

 

The series of virtual career events connecting employers and job seekers in Ontario agriculture and food begin with the first event on May 19th. The virtual job fairs for 2021 will take place on May 19th from 11 am to 3pm for Western Ontario, June 2nd from 11 am to 3 pm for Central, Eastern and Northern Ontario, June 16th from 11 am to 4 pm for all of Ontario, August 18th from 11 am to 3 pm for Central, Eastern and Northern Ontario, August 25th from 11 am to 3pm for Western Ontario and September 9th from 11 am to 4 pm for all of Ontario. 

 

Job seekers can sign up to attend the free virtual career fairs online at /feed-your-future-ontario.cfm Job seekers can apply for jobs online during the event, they can have their resumes updated and ready to connect with employers that are looking to hire them. Applicants have the opportunity to chat live with employers that are in their virtual booths.

 

Employers in the agri-food sector that have job openings and are looking to connect with new job seekers can register for a virtual exhibit booth for our events and connect in real time with candidates. These events are a great way to promote their company and brand and find fresh new talent for their organizations.

 

The virtual career fairs and upcoming webinar series are a great opportunity for job seekers and employers to connect and to learn.

Ernie Hardeman, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. “This project is one more way for us to invest in our farmers and the entire food supply chain so they can access the labour and training needed to continue delivering high-quality food to Ontario families.”
