Our client, a leading food service company is seeking a Senior Director, Food Safety Programs. You would join the Risk Management Team, working from the corporate headquarters, reporting to the Vice President, Risk Management.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development and ongoing advancement of the Food Safety program standards, ensuring that all relevant laws and standards are, at a minimum, complied with.
- Establish plan for continually advancing the Food Safety programs, including opportunities to exceed minimum legal standards.
- Implement, organize, and maintain controls and documentation procedures.
- Remain current on the latest research and industry advancements in food safety for the purpose of informing our program enhancement decisions.
- Analyze food safety performance to identify trends and establish strategies to improve performance.
- Maintain existing food safety certifications through ongoing monitoring and facilitation of regular audits. Identify opportunities to expand certifications to include broader implementation and introduction of new certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum fifteen (15) years' experience in food safety and quality assurance in food service/retail (preferred) or food manufacturing environment.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience leading a Food Safety team at a senior level.
- Experience participating in professional associations, including industry magazines is preferred.
- Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, microbiology or molecular biology, engineering, toxicology, natural science, or a related area of study. **Master's degree preferred**
- Professional certification in food safety/quality assurance preferred (example ASQ CMQ-OE).
- Knowledge of and experience with GFSI Benchmarked schemes, experience with managing a HACCP-based food safety management system.
