The Product Development Technologist is responsible for creating, testing, and optimizing innovative products that meet market demands and comply with regulatory and safety standards.
Reporting to the R&D Manager, this role plays a pivotal part in translating concepts into commercially viable products by managing the development process from idea generation to full-scale production.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new products that align with market trends and customer needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as R&D, quality assurance, and production, to ensure successful product launches.
- Conduct trials and tests in both small-scale and full production environments.
- Ensure products comply with regulatory standards for safety, quality, and labeling.
- Maintain detailed documentation of product formulations and modifications.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience in product development within the food manufacturing industry, ideally in baked goods.
- Degree/Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, Culinary Arts, or a related field
- Knowledge of CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) regulations.
- Understanding of nutrition labeling requirements and allergen management in food manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with recipe formulation and product innovation.
- Experience with scale-up processes from lab to full production.
- Technical knowledge of food ingredients, baking processes, and shelf-life stability.
