Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a full-time technician in the Insect Nematode Biology Discovery group in Crop Protection Discovery and Development located in Indianapolis, IN. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team charged with the identification and characterization of novel chemical solutions for insect and nematode control. The successful candidate will work closely with Scientists to coordinate and implement characterization projects in a variety of testing formats, both within the group and in response to cross-functional opportunities.

  • Coordinate with other functions, the scheduling of tests and the delivery of compounds, insects/nematodes and plant materials

  • Prepare solvents and solutions for early-stage insecticide/nematicide formulations

  • Manage and refine the operations of laboratory and greenhouse instruments and automated mechanical systems

  • Handle (e.g., inspect, sort, transplant and sample) insect/nematode and plant material in laboratories and greenhouses

  • Identify, troubleshoot and communicate issues

  • Maintain lab space, consumables and equipment

  • Develop and implement safety practices to ensure safety in the work environment

  • Assist in training and onboarding contract research staff

  • Formulate and apply early-stage pesticides utilizing various application methods

  • Quantitatively assess and document insect/nematode and plant response associated with pesticide applications

Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. in Biological Sciences or a related area.

  • Understanding of basic principles in biological sciences and laboratory working experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment.

  • Experience with data entry and Microsoft applications.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are essential for success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in problem-solving and experimental design.

  • Experience with laboratory automation.
