Description


Seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Research Associate to join our Molecular Engineering group in Johnston, IA to support the discovery and optimization of novel plant traits to help feed the world. 


They will use molecular biology, directed evolution techniques to plan, bioinformatics-driven design to plan, conduct and analyze experiments to support multiple research projects.  Previous experience in phage/yeast surface display (highly desired), robust quantitative binding and biochemical assay development, PCR, seamless cloning, library construction, recombinant protein expression and purification, lab robotics, DNA sequence and data analysis software. Ability to concisely summarize and integrate data working in multifunctional project teams. Team player with strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Supports research activity by planning and effectively conducting experiments; recording and analyzing data.  Ensures efficient daily operation of laboratories and maintains good lab notebooks and sample tracking.


 

  • Conducts experiments involving phage/yeast surface display.
  • Experience in homology modeling (MOE, Rosetta), structure-based design (PyMol...), molecular dynamics is a plus.
  • Performs functional evaluation analysis such as ELISA and Octet based assays.
  • Library construction and screening using latest synthetic biology and DNA-shuffling technologies.
  • Designs HTP assays to support lead candidate identification and functional analysis.
  • Documenting experimental data, presenting hypotheses, experimental results, conclusions and interpretations at cross-functional team meetings.

Qualifications


Senior Research Associate Minimum ofmasters degree in protein biochemistry,  bioengineering or relateddiscipline with a minimum of 2-4 years industry related experience required, or equivalent amounts of relevanteducation and laboratory experience. Familiarity with bioinformatics and sequence analysis software.Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
