The Engineering and Operations Technology (E&OT) is a function within Corteva Agriscience, that is chartered to deliver capital solutions, engineering, and project execution expertise across Corteva, for both the Crop Protection and Seeds Platforms. This organization has many exciting new job opportunities, including this posting pertaining to Construction Engineer, France, based out of Cernay, France, and with primary focus on the capital projects in Crop Protection platform.
The Construction Manager for France shall manage and coordinate all construction management related works on capital projects at Cernay and Drusenheim manufacturing facilities. Both these sites will have strategic alliance with EPCM / EPC companies directly managing the contractors. As an active member during FEL-2 and FEL3 planning and documentation process, the ideal candidate shall assure construction contracting and construction safety strategies meet both project and business objectives, be accountable for constructability inputs during FEED, engage the EPCM/EPC companies for constructability input to the design effort in addition to being accountable for Construction schedule, Construction quality, construction costs and contractors safety. He/she shall also monitor and approve completeness of contractor activities and payment for completed work.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
Assure Construction Contracting Processes for capital projects in France are tactically aligned to the site EPC/EPCM / regional strategy.
Ensure Construction effectiveness/competitiveness in the capital programs are accomplished through communications of alternatives, assess risk / benefit trade-offs, and offer mitigation options for final decision/alignment by Project Leadership.
Review proposed construction activity durations and Organization Plan and assist in the preparation of the Contracting Plan.
Owner Construction Lead in planning and coordination of a project for constructability, design-for-safety, schedule, construction quality and cost effectiveness including lean construction techniques, during FEED and during construction phase.
Ensure availability and engagement of competent and experienced resources from EPCM/EPC for construction.
Assure safety, schedule, quality of work, cost performance and change management of all field construction activities on the project.
Monitor and track contractor work for quality and completeness. Ensure progress reports on construction activities to Project Leadership.
Sets expectations for contractors, assure Business objectives are met and audit contractors performance.
Provide input on equipment and materials marshalling at the construction site. Ensure a robust inventory management and contractor hand-off of materials for the assigned project
Establish and implement capital project Quality Reporting and Metrics for the assigned project.
Assist Corteva project teams to perform the Owner's Quality role. Establish overall project Quality requirements and any unique standards/specifications, reviewing and assessing the contractor's Quality Plans and Programs for being fit-for-purpose, defining deliverables and then auditing/inspecting the contractor work process/products to ensure that Quality processes are being followed/accomplished, and that deliverables meet users expectations.
Review and approve contractor invoicing of completed work.
Ensure EPCMs/EPC provide Safety trend analysis / leading indicators to manage safety on construction sites.
Ensure construction inputs are provided during stage-wise design reviews and field audit processes are in place and effective.
Accountable to the Cortevas Project Leadership for managing Contractors Safety at Project Sites, for their assigned projects to ensure that construction contractors are following site and Corteva best practices and policies for managing the safety of all employees on the construction site.
Drive construction technology applications to advance construction productivity, construction safety, cost effectiveness and continuous improvement
Ensure all construction processes of the projects being managed, strictly adhere to the Cortevas Corporate/Business Intellectual Property (IP) / Trade Secrets (TS) content policy
Maximize bringing Outside-In from organizations such as CII, CURT, IPA, etc., to advance on Continuous Improvement on Construction Management.
About 5-8 years of construction management experience both brown in field and green field projects
Familiarity / working knowledge of Primavera P6 / Microsoft Project to validate / review / comment
Familiar with Risk Management practices and procedures
Ability to be employed legally in France, fluency in French and English
Should have successfully managed construction on multiple small projects and at least a few large projects
Industry standard best practice in Construction Management, Construction Safety Management and Construction Quality Management
Use of industry accepted Microsoft applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
Broad understanding of EPC disciplines and activities that are necessary to design, construct, and start-up plants.
Self-motivated and ability to independently manage construction and safety right from FEED to project closeout, and be receptive to strategic directions
Great time management skills including the ability to manage a substantial work load.
Interpersonal skills for working in a multi-functional team environment, with colleagues form variety of backgrounds and to deliver per project objectives.
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and desire to expand knowledge and grow professionally.
Ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple concurrent activities and deliver on commitments under tight time constraints.
English fluency in speaking and writing, be an active listener.
Sound interpersonal skills, confidence, and ability to negotiate effectively with internal and external contacts.
BS in Engineering or related field
Travel will be mostly to nearby site at Drusenheim in the near term.
