Job Title: Agricultural Commodity Merchant
Department: Merchandising, Portland, OR
Reports To: Senior Vice-President
FLSA Status: Exempt
Responsible for buying and selling various commodities, utilizing shuttle freight, DET s, COT s, single rail cars and trucks. Responsible for planning, procurement, storage and processing programs for the company s interior handling/processing operations and coordinating shipments to suit. The ideal candidate will be able to receive and digest input from multiple sources, then form and execute a plan in a fast-paced, dynamic global market environment.

This job may supervise one or more Merchant Trainees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and two or more years experience trading pulses in domestic and/or international markets.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and other employees.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, storage, interest, commissions, freight spreads, ratios and conversions quickly and accurately.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
