CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Transportation & Distribution group. We are looking for a Director of EHS to lead and manage the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) organization within the Transportation and Distribution business unit, ensuring compliance with all regulations and partnering with BU operations to achieve an industry-leading level of EHS performance. You must be proficient in EHS regulations and best practices in the transportation industry and have strong leadership and talent development skills. You must also have excellent analytical, collaboration, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Direct and manage the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) organization (seven employees) within the Transportation and Distribution business unit, ensuring compliance with all regulations and partnering with BU operations leadership to achieve an industry-leading level of EHS performance.
Serve as a strategic EH&S leader and member of the business unit leadership team, leading the development and execution of the business unit EHS strategy.
Lead programs that minimize risk to the business unit and CHS associated with EHS-related losses. These include programs in safety management, including behavior-based programs, DOT and OSHA compliance, employee training and oversight, and continuous improvement.
Serve as a subject-matter expert in DOT and other federal, state, and local truck transportation regulations and compliance.
Represent the Transportation & Distribution business unit and CHS in establishing and building community, regulatory, and government relations related to transportation industry policy.
Provide thought-leadership on transportation industry EHS topics and provide a leadership presence in representing CHS in industry roundtables and associations.
Lead the claim and financial loss management program for the business unit.
Champion and promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
Participate in the CHS corporate EHS center-of-excellence team that is responsible for developing and implementing enterprise-wide EHS programs and processes.
Basic Qualifications: (required)
10 plus years combination of experience in EH&S, Transportation Operations, and/or Hazmat Transportation Operating environment.
?5 plus years of previous supervisory and management experience successfully leading and developing a team
