Position Purpose & Summary
The Sr. Technical Service Specialist, Hydrocolloids will deliver value for the Hydrocolloids Product Line by: 1.Applying market knowledge, customer insights, and technical expertise in Hydrocolloids, especially Pectin, to inform the Hydrocolloids strategy and identify growth opportunities in the Americas region. 2.Identifying and executing new business development projects through direct relationships with customers, direct management of projects, and by providing technical expertise, product line knowledge, and support to other Technical Service and Sales colleagues. 3.Managing, prioritizing and reporting on a portfolio of new business development and support projects on behalf of the product line leadership team.
75%Responsible for customer accounts. Hunt for new opportunities aligning customer needs and market drivers with our capabilities by developing deep relationships with customers and providing technical credibility that drives differentiation and innovation. Shares intimate customer knowledge, and provides insight to customer needs, trends and competitor comparisons. Leverages internal and external resources to effectively deliver TS goals. Works with Sales and Marketing team members on customer satisfaction and account planning, as well as pipeline development. Prioritizes projects according to the Texturizers and Specialities (T&S) strategy and available capacity; drives projects to completion by working with project teams to clearly identify scope and timelines; secures necessary resources; and removes barriers to success. 25%Coordinates technical collaboration partner responsibilities tied to a T&S product line, which can include but is not limited to: managing the Hydrocolloid project portfolio and ensuring pipeline goals are met, leading Product Line pipeline review meetings, providing trainings and keeping training up-to-date, and helping support project pipeline development and growth. Troubleshoot issues with ingredients, formulations, processes, and assist in resolving complaints. Stays current and contributes to literature and technical developments related to product line and any other duties as assigned, as well as bring market insights back to the Hydrocolloids team. Additionally, applies ingredient knowledge in Hydrocolloids and is a Hydrocolloid expert within the Technical Services team.
Skills: Required Qualifications
•Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry or a related degree. •5 or more years experience in Research & Development or Technical Services. •Ability to promote and work within an inclusive environment. •Hydrocolloids (preferably pectin) experience or knowledge. •Demonstrated collaboration skills, both within and between groups, as well as with external customers. •Effective communication of in-depth technical information at all levels internally and with customers, and excellent communication and influencing skills, particularly verbal and presentation skills. •Prior experience managing customer relationships. •Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment and manage multiple priorities. •Ability to work independently and in team environment. •Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail. •Ability to travel up to 50%.
•Master's Degree in Science or Food Science. •Strong Hydrocolloids knowledge. •Customer segmentation and data capture (Salesforce.com) experience. •Technical Project Management experience. •Applications knowledge in the confectionary category. •Demonstrated creativity, collaboration and innovation skills.
