Provides complex technical support to businesses, locations, supervisors and customers in the primary area of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring.  May also provide regulatory support for labeling, registration, permitting, licensing and other regulatory functions.

 

Understands global chemical regulations and changes within scope of responsibility and assesses risk and opportunities related to SDS authoring.  Supports compliance in a variety of methods, related to labeling, registration, permitting, licensing and other regulatory functions.

 

This position is able to independently identify complex or long-term problems, identify/use resources and implement solutions.  This position may also act as an enterprise resource helping with developing procedures & processes, problem resolution at locations/terminals and in some cases providing technical advice to our operations overseas.

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

60%       Lead SDS Authoring initiatives for FIBI NA products & CIS Global products. Job duties will include collecting chemical data, analyzing/review of chemical and toxicity data, determine GHS/CLP classification, drafting SDSs in compliance with appropriate global regulations, coordinating, authoring, and review with 3rd party consultants, coordinating SDS updates in compliance with changing global regulations.

 

30%       Maintenance / on-going support of SDSs - Process monitoring, system implementation and improvement support, specialized knowledge, training, auditing of SDSs and performance. 

  • Maintains thorough knowledge of regulations/requirements in specific areas of responsibility (e.g., labeling, licensing, permitting, registration) and keeps knowledge current as regulations change over time.
  • Maintains regulatory and policy documentation.
  • Updates varied internal policy documentation by incorporating clearly defined edits provided by more senior team members.
 

10%   Miscellaneous job-related duties such as supporting Sr. Regulatory Professionals in completing regulatory compliance evaluations of new and/or existing products with applicable regulations, customer support, project work, and interaction with analytical support team, manufacturing technology teams, and customer support teams.



Skills:
Required:
  • BS/BA in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related science OR Engineering
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing environment with key responsibilities for product stewardship, EHS OR  regulatory compliance with at least 3+ years in authoring and development of Safety Data Sheets.
  • Experience regulations impacting SDS requirements worldwide: REACH, CLP, GHS, TSCA, Prop 65 etc.
  • Regulatory experience with GHS/OSHA/WHMIS hazard communication standards.
  • Demonstrated technical and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of people with varying levels of education.
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of product safety, safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Able to travel when needed and work nights, weekends when necessary.
 
Preferred:
  • Registered under AIHA SDS & Label Authoring Registry.
  • Knowledge of authoring systems / tools such as WERCS, SAP, 3E etc.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Experience dealing with customers or suppliers.
