Strategic Account Manager - (Midwest/West Coast Region)

Position Summary:
The Nutrition division of Archer Daniels Midland is searching for a Sr Strategic Account Manager for our Midwest and Westcoast Regions.

Nutrition offers a range of innovative ingredients for the beverage, food, supplement, and personal care markets. As a global market leader in food proteins, ADM's Nutrition group also manufactures numerous health and nutrition products, lecithin, hydrocolloids and polyols.

The incumbent will be responsible for the following:
  • Managing and developing relationships across key customer influencers and decision makers
  • Must be able to define and deliver the annual sales plan for assigned markets.
  • Find, vet and evaluate new business opportunities to develop market share and increase margin.
  • Gathering and using relevant market information to the input and design of the business strategy at customer, market, pricing and product level.
  • Interfacing with a portfolio of customers; negotiate sales contracts.
  • Managing sales contract execution from commercial agreement to delivery on time.
  • Managing sales volumes, pricing, credit issues, and contract status via interaction with the business support teams.
  • Employing customer related systems ranging from planning tools to CRM systems.
  • Coordinating special customer requirements through Organization.
  • Establishing plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the assigned market area and contributes to maintaining current customer relationships
Job Requirements:
  • An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in a Technical discipline, MBA or related advanced degree desirable
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the food ingredient or supplement industry.
  • Proven experience building new and existing relationships with key customers, including those in key strategic decision-making positions at headquarter level.
  • Superior strategic and tactical business planning skills.
  • Experience in the specific geography with our target accounts.
  • Demonstrated skill using a CRM as well as high proficiency in Strategic Account Planning.
  • Team skills--ability to share ideas, work with and assist other members to ensure the success of the team.
  • Strong organization, time management, communication, and negotiation skills..
Job Responsibilities:
  • Must have experience in preparing action plans for effective search of sales leads and prospects
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets according to the strategic roadmap
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing and trade show plans relative to their assigned market segment
  • Provides timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin
  • Maintains accurate records of all pricings, sales, activity reports and contract balances
  • Creates and conducts proposal presentations
  • Ability to call on R&D/technical groups to sell value-added ingredients with ability to sell solutions based on stated needs of a technical audience
  • Calculates and assembles quotes to customers and negotiate as necessary to secure contracts.
  • Provide detailed reporting to the Vice-President of Sales and Marketing through the use of SalesForce and other communication tools
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes
  • Maintains contact with all clients in the market area to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
