Citrus Product Specialist - Winter Haven, FL

Summary/Objective

The Citrus Products Specialist will assist in the formulation of our line of citrus oils and their isolates. This position will facilitate the creation of finished goods using our extensive inventory to create standardized products, and manage the order fulfillment and inventory levels of a portfolio of products.

Essential Functions
  • Evaluate current inventory to assist with product development, production scheduling, and maintaining inventory volumes.
  • Manage sales and sample order fulfillment by reviewing product requirements and confirming the completion date based on current inventory or scheduling new production.
  • Create matches for customers based on specific parameters including physical specifications and organoleptic descriptions
  • Formulate prototypes and perform testing on derivatives of citrus oil to confirm continuity and viability of different products
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to maximize efficiency and accuracy in blending, and provide clear instructions and practical timelines to facilitate order fulfillment and shipment based on customer demand.
  • Establish solid relationships with the sales team in order to ensure compatibility with client expectations of quality and service.
  • Exhibit excellent time management skills while working from a task list as well as taking on other projects as assigned
  • Analyze raw material, in-process, and finished product samples via gas chromatography (GC) and bench testing according to established SOP's
  • Follow all Lab and Site safety and GMP rules. Maintain work area in a neat and organized manner and complete all paperwork correctly.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
  • This position operates in a laboratory environment.
Physical Demands
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 35 pounds. Standing, walking, sitting, and manual dexterity are also required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.
Travel
  • This position requires less than 10% travel.
Required Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Chemistry, Food Science or related science or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years laboratory experience, preferably in the citrus or food industries
  • Technical knowledge of citrus oils preferred
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Project management skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Proven track record in problem solving and creative thinking
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment; flexible with moving targets and deadlines
  • Must be a self-starter and able to interact with a variety of departments
  • Technically proficient in the following standard chemical procedures and physical measurements: GC, pH, acid value, peroxide value, specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation, color, aldehyde content, and other standard tests.
