QUALIFICATIONS:

 

- Current Experience with Operations Management, Crop Production, Equipment Technology Driven with Precision Ag and it Software
- Commitment to excellence and high standards especially in terms of providing excellent results to land owners and neighbors within the farm production area
- Experience managing at least 6-10 individuals in a fast pace environment
- Experience and ability to manage people is very important
- Good personality with good communication skills to work with vendors, neighbors, their team, and management
- Ability to take initiative and work independently using effective time management and organizational skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Proven track record of being safe, dependable and reliable
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull 60 pounds (minimum) weight requirements
- Possess a valid driver license with good driving record
- Helpful and cheerful attitude is important

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Crop Production Manager for this New York crop producer. The Crop Manager role encompasses overseeing all facets of machinery and equipment maintenance, prioritizing the safety and welfare of farm staff and livestock. This leadership position involves directing, training, and providing daily guidance to the cropping and grain facilities team. As a dedicated team member, pivotal objectives revolve around enhancing operational efficiency and growth by ensuring a consistent supply of premium forages for our dairy herd and overall grain business.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Operation and Fieldwork:

  • Proficiently operate various equipment ensuring safety and productivity.
  • Drive trucks between farm locations as required.
  • Collaborate with team leads to oversee equipment operation by staff.
  • Engage in all fieldwork aspects during planting and harvest seasons.
  • Operate tractors, combines, and machinery for soil cultivation, planting, and harvesting.
  • Supervise crop inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatments.
  • Adapt and apply evolving farm technologies.

Machinery Maintenance:

  • Supervise a team ensuring the proper maintenance and repair of farm machinery, guaranteeing optimal working conditions at all times.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of all equipment to oversee effective operations.
  • Coordinate external machinery repairs.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date machinery maintenance records.
  • Manage parts ordering and maintain an accurate inventory.
  • Uphold the cleanliness and upkeep of farm machinery and facilities.
  • Implement and enhance the farm’s maintenance schedule.

Team Management and Leadership:

  • Cultivate a vibrant company culture emphasizing problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Lead daily farm operations, guiding the harvest crew and managing facility maintenance.
  • Direct, mentor, and guide crop personnel, providing solutions and support.
  • Address and resolve field-related issues.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise new and current employees.
  • Drive operational efficiency and growth through performance excellence.
  • Continually seek and implement operational improvements.
  • Develop and update plans for continuous improvement and growth.
  • Lead reviews after key events, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Actively participate and support team assignments and farm goals.
  • Contribute ideas, solutions, and support to the team.
  • Uphold and advocate for the farm’s mission, vision, and business culture.
  • Collaborate with leadership in business enhancement, strategic planning, and employee development.
  • Set annual goals, organize staff, and drive business growth.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in heavy machinery and dairy operations is essential.
