QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 plus years of turkey husbandry
  • Bachelor of Animal Science or Poultry Health Certificate (preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish
  • Experience operating skid loader
  • Mechanical skills
  • Carpentry skills a plus
  • Valid Drivers License
  • S. work authorization (Required)

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit.
  • Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Regular weekend work is required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a large poultry operation who are looking to fill a full-time position for Brooder Supervisor. The Brooder Supervisor position is primarily responsible for turkey husbandry and supervising all brooder workers and reporting to the Director of Turkey Operations. Employer is looking for highly motivated person who desires to work on a turkey farm that values excellent character and work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, Manage, Accountability
  • Ensure checklist for daily/weekly/monthly tasks are completed.
  • Meet expectations on the Level 3 Skill Assessment
  • Communicate fluently in English and Spanish
  • Execute objectives from Director of Turkey Operations
  • Coordinate brooders for activities barn setup, poults, moving, cleanout.
  • Coordinate with Grower Supervisor
  • Train new grower employees
  • Communicate with Maintenance Manager with needed repairs and materials.
  • Ensures compliance to bio-security policy and animal welfare practices.
  • Follows safety procedures.
  • Schedule brooder PTO time and substitute absences
  • Have annual reviews with direct reports.
  • Have high production expectations.
  • Follow standard processes and reduce process variation.
  • Monitor and adjust barn climate temperature, fans, ventilation, humidity, etc.
  • Ensure necessary records are up to date and accurate.
  • Effectively vaccinate and medicate flocks.
  • Lead and mentor barn workers explain the why.
  • Champion overall bird health and livability
  • Meet with brooders daily identify task, goals, expectations.
  • Challenge employees through empowerment/increased responsibility
  • Identify problems production, labor, barns, equipment and find or delegate a solution.
  • Delegate day to day tasks to capable barn workers
  • Execute equipment plan needs, maintenance, sanitation, replacement.
