JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a small dairy located in Vermont who are searching for highly qualified candidates for the full-time position of Assistant Farm Manager for their operation. The role of this position assists the Farm Manager and oversees the farm operation in the absence of the Farm Manager. This position has a focus on herd and dairy management, working with the Farm Manager and staff to determine the best practices for future farm goals. The farm is looking for a candidate with a positive attitude, at least five (5) years of farming experience, including ability to efficiently milk cows independently, and leadership experience. The farm is transitioning from a once conventional dairy operation to a rotationally grazed system for all livestock. As the farm enters a new era of progressive farming, we're seeking the right person to help create more of an agricultural experimentation model of excellence.

Much of the work at the farm requires heavy lifting (50 lbs) strenuous work conditions, irregular schedules depending on season and staffing. Provide continuity of farm management on days when the Farm Manager is off. Has authority to treat sick animals in accordance with farm protocols and will inform staff of issues, as appropriate. Will be included in the milking rotation of approximately 5 to 7 milkings per week. Participate in special events and school programs that portray various aspects of the agricultural practices of the farm. This includes weekends and holidays. Perform all duties in a responsible, conscientious, and safe manner, representing the entire operation professionally in all public contacts. Perform other duties, as assigned. This position includes housing on property which requires on-call and evening hours.
