Job Purpose
Glacier FarmMedia (“GFM”) is a dynamic company in the Canadian agriculture industry that connects with farmers through a variety of regional and specialty media franchises, a listings marketplace for the sale of farm equipment, leading industry events like Ag in Motion and Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show and customized offerings for Weather and Market analysis and insights.
This role is an individual contributor who is part of a collaborative, cross-functional team. As the Operations Coordinator for Events & Shows, you will be responsible for managing and effectively executing the day-to-day operations of Discovery Farm, including Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show and Ag in Motion. This position plays a vital role in supporting the operations team through site maintenance, event execution, and coordination of seasonal staff.
Duties and responsibilities
• Foster close collaboration with the Director of Operations and fellow managers, offering comprehensive support tailored to organizational needs.
• Streamline seasonal staffing processes, ensuring seamless onboarding and scheduling while meticulously reviewing staff time submissions for accuracy and adherence to company policies.
• Cultivate and nurture positive supplier relationships, overseeing timely supply ordering, precise invoicing, and meticulous management of contractual agreements.
• Engage actively in all facets of event setup and execution, embodying a readiness to undertake physical tasks and provide unwavering support within a collaborative team environment.
• Coordinate volunteer groups for seamless onsite execution and conduct safety training for employees and volunteers.
• Offer continuous guidance and directives to site supervisors, empowering them to efficiently execute tasks and meet deadlines with confidence.
• Uphold exemplary customer service standards, adeptly analyzing and resolving issues while proactively recommending system enhancements when warranted.
• Ensure effective emergency preparedness and response by providing pivotal support as second-in-command during crises and thoroughly reviewing the organization's emergency plan with staff and volunteers.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated expertise in project management, operations, and leadership roles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proven track record in building and fostering strong relationships and achieving consensus.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptable and excels in dynamic, fast-paced work environments.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate or willingness to acquire.
• Requirement of safety footwear for on-site work.
Working Conditions
• Remote/Hybrid
• Required to travel for minimum 3 weeks per event to Saskatchewan for Ag in Motion in July and Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show in Ontario in September.
• The nature of working in events means that the weeks leading up to show time may require some weekend work and longer hours.
