Elders has invested $25 million to establish a world-first, wool handling business and is looking for a Wool Technical Manager to provide support to the National Wool Operations Manager in our newly built, state-of-the-art, warehouse.

About the role

We are looking for a Wool Technical Manager to join the growing team on a permanent, full time basis.

An Elders Wool Technical Manager is responsible for coordinating the weekly wool auctions, supervising and managing the wool technical team, to market our clients wool in a timely, efficient, and professional manner with importance placed on meeting deadlines and leading a cohesive team.

Responsibilities
  • Train, mentor and develop wool technical staff.
  • Oversee the lotting process to ensure wool is lotted and presented for sale correctly.
  • Supervise the wool technical staff to apply accurate AWEX ID and wool appraisals.
  • Coordinate sale day staff at the weekly wool sales.
  • Provide technical and marketing support and advice to clients, District Wool Managers, Wool Sales Manager, agents and the branch network
  • Supervise the daily job list to ensure tasks are carried out on time


About you
  • An excellent understanding of wool brokering and the wool industry.
  • Excellent wool technical skills and knowledge of the value of various wool types
  • Experience managing, supervising, mentoring and developing staff
  • A strong commercial focus with the ability to problem solve and the ability to negotiate and settle claims
  • Sound organisational and time management skills to ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in shearing sheds or on rural sheep operations
  • A sound understanding of how a rehandle or reclass facility operates
  • An understanding of risk management
  • Excellent computer skills
  • An understanding of Quality Systems such as RWS
